The Sublime Second - 2016

This is my 3rd year of recording 1 second each day and it continues to remind me to be slightly more grateful every day.  There are also many other reasons I'm still motivated to take these videos, outlined in this post from last year. When summarizing the year, most pundits were eager to describe 2016 as "one disappointment after another."  Plagued by protests, terrorism and a polarizing presidential election it's easy to quickly write the year off as a painful point in history.

I often spend too much time thinking about all these things that could be better and not enough time focusing on gratefulness. This isn't easy to change, even our ancestors were constantly striving for improvement as part of human nature.  However, after watching this video, I'm reminded of all the subtle delights in life that are not outlined in year-end summaries and often taken for granted. Most seconds of my day can almost always be viewed positively with the right mindset.
